While I cannot tell you what exactly to write for your story since it has to be your own original writing, here are the definitions, parts of speech in parentheses (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, conjunction, preposition, etc.), and some synonyms for each of the vocabulary words you listed. Hopefully they will help you in developing some ideas of your own for your story assignment.
*Complicate (v.): to make more difficult, sometimes unnecessarily.
*Courteous (adj.): polite, well-mannered, considerate, generous, thoughtful.
*Discomfort (n.): ill at ease, not comfortable.
*Eliminate (v.): to remove completely, sometimes by a process.
*Grieve (v.): to mourn, regret, bemoan.
*Moral (v.): a lesson learned or taught. (adj.) to be correct, decent, caring, thoughtful.
*Scorch (v.): to burn the surface with something like heat or a flame.
*Severe (adj.): excruciating, intense, rigorous, painful, stressful, very difficult.
*Tragic (adj.): terrible, unbelievable, unexpectedly bad, horrific
*Trifle (n.): of little value or importance.
*Universal (adj.): effecting a huge group of people spanning a huge geographic distance.
