Rounding Square Inches

Question

I was asked to round my answer to the tenths place. My answer was 803.84 square inches. I put 803.8 square inches. It said the answer was in fact wrong and was 804.2 square inches. Im missing something and I need to know what it is.

This may be a case of you rounding incorrectly while doing work. Depending on the program you are using, it may take into consideration rounding within your process of finding a solution. So I would say that when doing a problem, if the answer is to be in the 10th place try to have the numbers you find while solving the problem in the hundredths or thousandths place.
