Metals conduct, are lustrous, malleable, ductile and have a wide range of melting points.
Ionic compounds tend to be brittle, have high melting points and conduct electricity when dissolved in water or melted because they break apart into lions.
Covalently bonded can be 2 possibilities:
Network solids that have covalent bonds throughout, high melting points, some of the hardest substances known. Do not conduct.
Molecules that are held together physically by weak intermolecular forces. They have low melting temps and tend to be cheesy, waxy, oily if they form solids at all. They can also form some brittle solids. They do not conduct in any state.
