Alpha decay releases a He nucleus and in Beta decay releases an electron by a change of a neutron into a proton that remains in the nucleus and an emitted electron.
Therefore alpha decay emits 2 protons and 2 beta decays increases the atomic number by 2 , therefore the atomic number does not change.
