I don't believe this to be true. If you look up the values for standard entropy, you find that sucrose has higher entropy than glucose.

Note that this is the typical sort of error made in a certain publisher's SAT Prep books, etc. (across several subjects, too!). The question formulator perhaps assumed incorrectly that the disaccharide would be lower based on the "disappearance" of one molecule of monosaccharide. It's true that the S of the disaccharide is less that twice that of the monosaccharide -- but, for a condensation reaction, one must also include S of the evolved water molecule! (and the respective H's as well). -- Cheers, -- Mr. d.
