CoE, like any ethical theory, is different in how it aims to address ethical problems, but similar to other theories in that its end goal is to provide a moral framework. Whether or not it is an “appropriate” approach depends on the issue at hand and your personal values and opinions.
I personally do not care for CoE; I think that the strongest ethical frameworks are those that rely primarily on logic and fairness. While interpersonal relationships can matter in a moral context, I believe that the “care” spoken of in CoE is just a less efficient and less accurate term to describe duties and obligations; I think that interpersonal relationships impede one’s ability to make objective, fair decisions, and while I see the moral appeal of the system, it is relatively weak in my opinion.
