I need help with variable expression please!!

It says evaluate 6a-5b when a= -3 and b =4. I don't understand how the do the math or how to work these types of problems... This is what I did and I'm sure its wrong please help me... I don't how I got these numbers!

6a-5a

6a(-3)-5(6)= -8-20

= -6+(-20)= 26
