What we know:
Perimeter= 92
Length= width +14
The perimeter is comprised of the sum of all four sides:
P= 2L + 2 W
Since we know L=W + 14, we can substitute that in to the perimeter equation:
P= 2 (W + 14) + 2W
P= 2W + 28 + 2W
P= 4W +28
We know P=92, therefore:
92= 4W + 28
From there we are now solving for a single variable, and should get an answer that directly gives the width.
