Which of the following actions will NOT increase the rate at which a solid dissolves in a liquid?

Increasing the temp

Stirring the solid and the liquid

lowering the temp

increasing the surface area of the solid

(leaning toward d?)

NOTE: Increasing the Temp and Decreasing the Temp are OPPOSITES. Either they have an effect on the rate or they don't. If they have no effect at all, they would both be actions that would not increase the rate of solid dissolving in a liquid. In that case, they would BOTH be answers! If they do affect the rate of dissolving, (logically) they would have the opposite effect! If Increasing the temp increases the rate, then decreasing the temp wouldn't, and it would decrease the rate. Or vice versa - if decreasing the temp increases the rate, then increasing the temp would decrease the rate. Do you know which one it is?
