8A+6O =9.60

7A+3O = 6.60

Multiply the 2nd equation by 2

14A+6O=13.20

subtract the first equation

leaving

6A = 3.60

A= 3.60/6 = 60 cents

7(.6)+3O= 6.6

4.2 +3O = 6.6

3O = 6.6-4.2=2.4

O = 2.4/3 = .8 or 80 cents

Apples cost 60 cents, Oranges cost 80 cents
