You are talking about doubling the volume of gas. So if you had 1 L of a gas in a sealed piston and pulled the piston out so the gas now has a volume of 2 liters how would that effect the number of particles present?

I can imagine putting a 1 L container inside a 2 L container, sealing it up with rubber gaskets with a stopcock on the 1 L container that has a handle on it leading to the outside of the 2 L container. Then you could open it allowing the gas to fill the 2L container. Something like this:

Or maybe even simpler, having two 1 L containers, one on top of the other, with a stopcock in between them.Put gas in the top one and a vacuum in the bottom one, then screw them together onto the stopcock and then opening it to allow the gas to fill both. The gas would start in a 1 L container and then go into a "2 L container" (the two 1 L's would make a 2 L).

It is not impossible, of the container is flexible, of course.

You can either increase temperature or reduce pressure in the environment surrounding the container, the first one is usually more feasible, if the gas is not inflammable.
