The definition of a saturated solution is a solution where the maximum amount of solute possible has been dissolved in the solute. This means that if you were to add additional solute, it would not be dissolve.
Unlike a saturated solution, an unsaturated solution does not have the maximum amount of solute that is able to be dissolved and additional solute could be dissolved in the solvent.
For reference:
Solute - A substance dissolved in another substance.
Solvent - A substance in which the solute is dissolved.
