The major opposition to a 2nd Convention is that that Convention would have no limitations on the changes they could make. They could repeal the Bill of Rights, change representation in the House of Representatives, etc. Therefore, if change is wanted/needed to the Constitution the safest method would be to use the process that has been utilized most frequently: the Congress votes on a proposed amendment, of approved it then goes to the states for ratification.
