What is the greatest power of 10 that is a factor of 87,000

Found this in a section while reviewing divisibility.

How do you come by that answer? The book gives the answer of 1000.

And i said 1000. But, the question said "power of 10", which is 3

I apologize. I wasnt meaning that you were wrong. Im still not grasping the steps to take to reach the answer.

You simply factor the number using the largest multiple of 10 that will fit. 87 factors to 3 * 29. The remaining factors might be 100 and 10, but those can be combined to get 1,000. The next higher power of 10 is 10,000, and that is not a factor of 87,000
