If I am assigned a set of vocabulary words- especially bigger or very unfamiliar words and told to write a story, how should I go about it?

I recommend consulting a dictionary or thesaurus for each of the words and coming up with a synonym that is simple and commonly used. Write a story using those synonyms. Then go back into your story and replace them with words from the assigned vocabulary.
