Your goal is to save at least $240.00 over the next 4 weeks. How much money must you save each week in order to meet that goal? Write and solve an inequality

Suppose x is the amount you want to save each week.

 

Then after 4 weeks you would have saved 4x.  You want that to be at least 240, so 4x ≥ 240.

 

That's easy to solve by dividing both sides by 4.

 

x ≥ 60.
