this is for my 7th grader and she needs help with actually solving the problem thanks

 

A garage floor measures 150 feet by 120 feet. a scale drawing of the floor on grid paper uses a scale of 1 unit:15 feet. what scale was used to make the model?

Answer 1

• If 1 unit = 15 feet, then 2 units =30, 3=45, etc.  
• We can go backwards by using division, to figure out how many units are needed for an actual measurement like the garage.
• The 150 side would be 150/15=10 units
• The 120 side would be 120/15=8 units
• The scale model was 10 units by 8 units
