NMR makes use of certain atomic nuclei that are able to interact with a magnetic field to allow for detection of specific signals associated with the nuclei's magnetic spin. These include ¹H, ⁴He, ⁶C, ¹²C,¹⁸F, ¹⁹F, ¹⁶O, ⁶⁷Zn, and ¹²⁷Xe.
