Malala conveyed to the world the educational plight of women having seen her mother's inability to read and write. Her mother became her inspiration for change. Tor Pekai was denied the right to improve herself; Malala witnessed first-hand that knowledge is power. Malala knew that her views and opinions were worthy, and that education provides girls her age the ability to rise up and defend themselves. Malala's honesty, tenacity, and her mother's experiences have provided her with the strength to create an educational revolution for all women.
Explanation: Malala is the youngest recipient of the Peace Prize. She became the spokeswoman for all women denied the ability to read, write, and speak up to protect themselves. She has overcome harassment, death threats, and being shot. Malala has grow up seeing her mother unable to learn and gain independence to make decisions for herself.
