handley uses 4/5 of his paper clips for an art project. if he starts with 7 boxes of paper clips how many boxes of paper clips are left when he finishes

7*(4/5) = 5 3/5, then 7 - 5 3/5 = 1 2/5

or

7*(0.8) = 5.6, then 7 - 5.6 = 1.4

or

(35/5)*(4/5) = 140/25 = 28/5, then 35/5 - 28/5 = 7/5

 

1 2/5 or 1.4 or 7/5 boxes of paper clips are left. Any of those three numbers are correct, as they all equal each other.
