When boiled down to their essentials, Buddhism and Christianity are in direct conflict.
In Buddhism, certain tenants such as introspection, meditation, and good works are practiced as a way for a person to elevate the soul into enlightenment. This is work that can be done by an individual.
In Christianity, only faith is required for salvation. There is no work that can be done by any person to improve their standing with God. Good works are seen as a response to freely given salvation that has only to be accepted.
While there are many differences between the religions' views on cosmology, epistemology, etc., their soteriologies are the most obviously in conflict.
