"distributed" and "evenly" tells you that they all got equal amount-2pairs. With the total number of friends being 7 the total pair = 2*7+14

Thank you, that's what I initially thought the answer was but then I second guessed myself thinking it should be more difficult since the worksheet is entitled, "Division of Whole Numbers by Fractions Word Problems"...I feel really dumb right now lol...anyway, thank you kindly for your help :)

So I also have the following word problem and neither the word "distributed" or "evenly" are used:
Elliott gave away his DVDs to 8 friends. Maggie got 5 DVDs. How many DVDs were there in total?
 
So do I assume all the 8 friends received the same amount and the answer is 40.  These problems are math problems, it seems more like they are playing word games.
