According to the Bible, when did life on Earth begin?

Answers to this question vary, but I have seen estimates ranging anywhere from 4000 to 6000 years ago, at least according to the Jewish and Christian Bibles. The Jewish calendar, as of right now, is in the year 5779. Take that with a massive grain of salt though, as that was based on an estimate calculated during the Talmudic period between 100 and 400 AD.
