Hello, I don't know what version your ps3 is and what software version you are on. But if I remember right, in the settings there's an option to turn off HDCP for your HDMI port. This should allow you to capture your gameplay. Note this automatically turns back on when you try to play a movie. The Wii U shouldn't have any HDCP.
I don't know which capture card you have already. If you like to reply with what you have I can give a more accurate answer. Most capture cards I know of have an input and output. The output goes to your tv and the card connects to your computer to record.
I personally like Elgato's capture cards. I own a few different models. I also know people like razors capture cards, but I don't know much about their cards.
