In general, Geophysicists look at the geology of the planet internally which is a direct result of physics principles like gravity while geologists focus on analyzing rock and rock formations to characterize their age, construction mechanism, global climate at that time, etc. In my experience, geologists don't typically use physics much, except when they are characterizing the geology of another planet.
