Question: What, if anything, does the grammar of Polish have in common with English?
Cześć!
At first glance, and understandably so, many may not catch any similarities between English and Polish grammar. Perhaps, even saying such a thing elicits a reaction such as: “no way!” or “yeah, right!”
However, I’d like you to consider the following example – to name but just one, for now.
It may encourage you to know that the English and Polish systems of grammar do share similarities!
EXAMPLE:
Pronouns. Both English and Polish mark some of their pronouns according to gender, number and even case!
For example:
English: he = Polish: on
gender: masculine
number: singular
case: nominative/subject pronoun
English: she = Polish: ona
gender: feminine
number: singular
case: nominative/subject pronoun
English: it = Polish: ono
gender: neuter
number: singular
case: nominative/subject pronoun
Compared to English, this pattern carries through much more extensively in Polish. Nevertheless, this principle does exist in both languages.
I hope this answer is of help to you.
