The independent variable is the variable that the experimenter, you, are changing/testing & the dependent variable is the result of the changes to the independent variable. For example, in an experiment 3 plants, of the same type & size, are given different amounts of water. The independent variable would be the amount of water because that is what is being changed & tested between each of the plants. The result of the different amounts of water is the independent variable. So the independent variable would be the plant health/growth. The plant health/growth depends on the amount of water given to each plant.

I measuring how cabbage put in different levels salt solutions affect's it ph. I soaked the cabbage in different levels of salt solutions (0%, 5%,10%,15%.20%). and then adding three drops of ph5, ph7, ph9 to see the color change. what are my variables.
