x-y=5 After doing the re-arrange thing, I get slope =1 or 1/1 and y intercept =5 the book says -5 Which is correct?

Express x-y=5 in slope and y-intercept form then identify slope and y-intercept.

x-y=5 =  x-x-y=5-x  =  -y=-x+5 = y=x+5  Slope=1 Y-intercept=5 Is how I worked it.  Book says slope= 1 and y-intercept =-5

-y = -x + 5 is correct, but when you multiply both sides by -1, you have to multiply both the x and the 5 by -1.  So -y = -x + 5 becomes y = x - 5 as Michael showed you.  Slope is 1, y-intercept is -5.
