One of the best ways to prepare for graduate school is to have a solid foundation in a variety of subjects. For most graduate programs, you will be asked to do some writing -- either technical or theoretical -- so, make sure that you have classes that cover these skills. Something I recommend for my students is for them to read books within the field they'd like to study. After reading two or three books, think: would you be willing to do these kinds of readings every week for 1-6 years? Do you feel like you can contribute to the field in some way?
On a more technical side, make sure you've taken your standardized assessment, and that you have a solid idea for your personal statement. In my own application, I wrote about being "babysat by books" growing up -- I was a latchkey kid in the 90s. Hope this helps!
