Hi Karina,

In order to solve these types of problems, you take the amount someone is charged/pays and divide it by the number of items. In this case, the charge is $9.99 and the number of items is 1000.  Therefore, divide 9.99 by 1000 and the answer that you get will be in dollar format (ie 0.81 is $0.81 or 81 cents).
