Can an Atheist go to Heaven

Question

I want to put this forward as I myself am an atheist. I was having a discussion with one of my devout christian friends which ended with him saying "well, when you die I wish I could see you in heaven, but since you are an atheist, you are going to be damned to eternity in hell. No offense to you." This got me thinking. If an atheist, not even specifically me, is a kind hearted, caring person, who goes through as much effort as they can to be the best person they possibly can be, are they simply destined to go to hell for not believing correctly? I feel like an eternal afterlife would have some sort of protection against good people who were simply misguided with their beliefs, to be forced to suffer in whichever version of hell that may exist.

Your friend has the truth. Why would an atheist who does not believe in God desire to go to heaven?

They will not. A person has to believe in God first, believe Jesus died to save them from their sins and repent of their wrong doing and accept Jesus as their savior.Goodness does not save us but the blood of Jesus. It does not matter how nice a person is if they don't believe in God they consider him as non existent. When we who are not atheist know God does exist. He is in control of the world everyday. He desires all to serve him and believe in Him but God is kind because He gives us free will choice to decide for ourselves. If we do not accept the correct path (Heaven) then we suffer the consequences for our wrong doings and enter (Hell) instead. We must be born again of the water and the spiirit (Holy Ghost) as stated in Acts 2:38 to have your name written in the Lambs book of life which is in Rev. 20:12. The book of works records our daily life and the works we do whether good or bad. Listen to your friend they are telling you right.
