Just as we have different dialects and expressions in different parts of the US, as populations grew and moved to areas that were geographically isolated, language developed and changed within each population. And these populations, coming into contact with the indigenous people and their languages, were influenced by local language and customs. Even English continues to change as we deal with people using other languages. Even within our own borders there are areas here where we have to listen carefully to understand people from isolated areas.
Why has humanity made separate languages from Latin instead of keeping it all the same?
