Why do some solvents separate from water when the solution freezes?

As the temperature decreases, the freezing point of water will be reached. When this occurs, water molecules freeze and rise to the top of the solution, pushing the solvent down into the solution. As this continues, you will see the complete separation of the frozen water on top from the solvent at the bottom.
