This is a really great question..
Yes, but there are some things that you should know when talking about the FAFSA. Just so you always know, "FAFSA" doesn't pay for anything! Sounds crazy, right? Well, that's because the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is just that, it's only an application. It's not an organization or entity that gives out any monies--its just an application that allows it to happen from the federal government. Now, when you complete that application and it is processed, what actually pays for school are the loans and/or grants you are awarded which you should be very much aware of. The three most common that are awarded are the Pell Grant, Direct Subsidized Loans, and Direct Unsubsidized Loans. For people who attend grad school for certain health professional programs, they may be able to get additional unsubsidized loans and a higher limit on borrowing on them to pay for grad school. The cool thing is that unlike the Pell Grant, you don't need to show financial need to get unsubsizied loans for undergrad or grad school when you apply via the FAFSA. There are also lots of fellowships and research opportunities that allow for grad school to be paid for as well, just check with the financial aid office.
Hope this helped!
