I can’t speak to dark table over Lightroom, although I do teach Lightroom and would be happy to teach you. But I would really encourage you to shoot in raw format if you’re going to all the trouble of dragging a camera around. You’ll have much better ability to recover highlights and details then you will with a JPEG. They additional amount of space that raw files takes up is so negligible compared to how cheap memory cards are these days.
