I am doubtful this law could be ever be proved wrong due to the tremendous amount of studies that have been completed since the 18th century. For a reference, the founding father Benjamin Franklin was the first person to make this observation. Every experiment that has been conducted from then on has observed and/or made use of this observation.
However, keep in mind, the law is only for the observed universe. Could there be environments somewhere in space where this law is wrong? This is possible.
