How to make div not larger than its contents?

I have a layout similar to: <div> <table> </table> </div>I would like for the `div` to only expand to as wide as my `table` becomes.

You can set the width to fit content. You can also create another outer div, set a max-width of may be 1200px, then set the inner-div width to auto.
