A hospital has available Actinomicina for children 2 mg/kg. A nurse must give this medication to an infant that weighs 16 lbs. and 10 oz. How many mg must the nurse give (single dose)? Round to the nearest hundredth. (1 lb = 0.45 kg) and (1 lb = 16 oz)

Start by converting ounces to pounds, (1/16 (because there are 16 ounces in a pound) = 0.625). ). 0.0625 x 10 (the number of ounces given) = 0.625. Now we can add given lbs plus converted oz (16 + 0.625 = 16.625). Since we know 1 lb = .45 kg we can just do simple multiplication (16.625 x 0.45 = 7.48 kg). Now we can just multiple 2mg x 7.48 k = 14.96 mg or if you're rounding 15.00mg.

I would like to add something very important. 1 lb is equal to .45kg if we are rounding however if it is not 1 lb is actually equal to 0.453592 which does make a huge difference in the answer. But since 0.45 is what is specifically given I guess that is what is expected.
