Recommendation to Shooting Long Videos?

I'm seeking recommendations on how to shoot a long lecture by a guest speaker that is coming to town. I currently own a Canon t4i. My main question is what do I need to avoid my camera from spazzing out during the lecture. What SD card might I need? Will the battery run out? How to avoid that?Thanks

It may work if you can accept these limitations. 1) Battery life is only 1.5 hrs. continuous, 2) Recording limit is 29mins. 59secs. in lower resolutions, 3) The sensor cannot operate well in darkened halls, 4) It cannot accept 256GB / 512GB memory cards. Which is what you need. My suggestion is to beg / borrow / rent a Sony NX100. Lowest priced Event Video Camera avaialble. It does all these things and has excellent Live Sound recording.
