It is absolutely NOT necessary to know Latin first! Actually, even the grammar of romance language does not strictly follow that of Latin. Romance languages are lively languages, and, with my communicative approach, it will become natural and fun to learn my language of expertise, Italian. Surely, many Italian words come directly from Latin--and some English words too. It will just be fun to find commonalities among languages, but, you don't definitely need to read Cicero first!
