Not great with proportion please help

Question

If I have one cup of water needed for every half of cup of oats how much water would be required for 3/4 cups of oats

1 cup water : 1/2 cup oats

1/2 cups oats times 1 1/2 = 3/4 cups oats

1 cup water times 1 1/2 = 1 1/2 cups water
