if you drove 3,000 miles per month during the summer but only 1,000 miles per month the rest of the year, what is your average miles per month?

i need help solving my problem because i never learned expected value in my Algebra 2 class so now i am having trouble

This is an average problem

 

We need the total miles divided by the number of months

 

3000 per month in the summer month

 

If this is June, July and August

 

then 3000 * 3 = 9000

 

and  1000 * 9 = 9000

 

 

total = 9000 + 9000

 

= 18000

 

Average = 18000/12

 

= 1500
