Rendered two videos from Adobe Premiere with the same settings but different resolution and they're the same file size?
I exported two videos from Adobe Premiere. Same length, same quality settings, but one was 4K (the original footage was 4k) and one was 1080p. I was trying to put these on Facebook so I was trying to crunch file size. But with the exact same settings they were both 24.4MB. How can this be? The 4K one should be much much larger. Quality stayed the same so when the resolution changed file size should have changed, but it didn't.Why?Side note: This was done with variable bitrate, might that have been the reason?
Variable bitrate is the cause of this. It's best to use a constant bitrate to ensure constant quality. Otherwise you might lose some quality during tough rendering parts of your video. Once you designated the best bitrate for what you're needing you will see an increase. Also as a side note Facebook crunches the quality of your video no matter what size footage you have. I would suggest uploading it to youtube or vimeo first then sharing the link. This will ensure your video stays perfect quality like you intended.
