knowledge of region

Question

If a group of people were put together on an island from birth and had no knowledge of Religion or Gods, Would they seek for a higher coarse ? has there been any studies like this ?

There certainly has been no study actually done because it would be unethical in the extreme. However, it seems to be a human constant that every primitive culture develops some type of religion in an attempt to answer the unanswerable questions of existence as well as phenomena observed and not as yet scientifically explainable.
