When Prince Albert died young Vicky was in Prussia married to Prince Frederick of Prussia and could not be with her father when he passed away December 14,1861. This devastated Princess Victoria. She was extremely close to her father. Princess Alice (mother to future Empress of Russia Alexandra) nursed her father the best she could, but he succumbed to the illness. Alice, thus had to care for Queen Victoria who was shattered. Prince Albert was blamed for the demise of Prince Albert, but there to his mother's dismay. The other children (6 of the 9 children were present) Alice, Helena, Louise, Arthur and Alfred.
