.What is the cost to rent each chair and each table?

8c + 3t = 36

By elimination,

-4 * equation #1 + equation #2:

-4 * 5t + 3t = -4*43 + 36

-20t = -172 + 36

-17t = -136

t = -136/-17 = 8

8c + 3(8) = 36

8c + 24 = 36

8c = 12

c = 12/8 = 3/2 = 1.50

2c + 5(8) = 43

2c + 40 = 43

2c = 3

c = 3/2 = 1.50

Price of the table is $8

Price of the chair is $1.50
