10 worms 5 flies 3 spiders
sum to 18 creatures and
5(6) +10(1) + 3(8) = 30+10+24= 64 legs
F+W+ S =18
6F + W + 8S = 68 assuming worms have only one "leg"
6F +6W + 6S = 108
6F +W +8S = 68
5W -2S = 40
that's about as far as it seemingly goes.
You have 3 unknowns and 2 equations
which have a multiple if not infinite number of solutions
as you need integer solutions, that makes it a finite number of solutions and possibly just one.
8 = W means S=0 and F= 10 but W,F,S all are>0
10= W means S=5 and F=3
5W-2S =40
other possibilities won't work as they sum to more than 18
12 = W means S=10 12+10>18
14 = W means S= 15
16 = W means S=20
18 = W means S = 25
