top of rectangular figure is 6.3cm, side is 8.5cm

On the following scale drawing, the scale is 4 centimeters = 1 meter. 1. Make a new scale drawing of this rectangular figure using the scale 5 centimeters = 1 meter. Make sure to label the new dimensions. 2. What are the actual dimensions of the figure?

6.3 cm/ x = 4 cm / 1 meter

4x = 6.3

x = 6.3/4 = 1.575 meters for the top of the rectangle

LIkewise,

8.5 cm/x = 4 cm/ 1 meter

8.5 = 4 x

x = 8.5/4 = 2.125 meters for the side of the rectangle

These are the actual dimensions of the figure.

So using the new scale, 5 cm = 1 meter,

multiplying both sides by 1.575, the new diagram

will show a top measure of 1.575*5 = 7.875 cm

while the side measure shall be

2.125* 5 = 10.625 cm
