How does the space between the particles in each state of matter differ?

In a sold, the space between paticles is relatively small. The paticles are pcked pretty tightly. In a liquid, there is more space between the paticles than in a solid. And in a gas, the particles are far apart. So, the order is solid closer than liquid closer than gas.
