Brownie fraction question

If Mara made brownies for the basketball fundraiser and after the game she had half of the pan of brownies remaining and that evening her chrildren ate half of remaining brownies. Now what fraction of the pan of brownies does Mara have remaining?

She made 1 pan of browneis, and then 1/2 of the pan was eaten, leaving her with 1/2 left. (1 -1/2=1/2). Then her kids ate 1/2 of 1/2 so she had 1/4 left. (1/2 of 1/2 =1/4). The answer is 1/4.
